LEWISTOWN – In the most highly anticipated MIfflin County football game in years, the Huskies came in and got the job done as they improved to 2-0 in their 35-13 win over Shikellamy.
With the win, MIfflin County will head to Altoona for a showdown with the Mountain Lions.
Mifflin County scored first on a 3-yard TD pass from Landen Eichhorn to Isaac Wilson, putting the Huskies ahead.
The Braves tied the game later in the quarter, heading into the second quarter, tied at seven.
In the second Deakon Sheaffer, who was tough up the middle, scored through the air on a 16-yard hook up from Eichhorn. The PAT was successful, putting the Huskies back on top by seven.
Shikellamy retaliated with. 72-yard kick return, cutting it to a one-point game.
But the Huskies defense came up back, like it did against Central Mountain, blocking the PAT.
The combination of Eichhorn to Sheaffer paid dividends once again as the two hooked up again on a 12-yard TD catch, giving the Huskies a 21-13 lead going into the intermission.
Mifflin County put the heat on the Braves in the third quarter, posting two more touchdowns in the period.
With the strong showing by the offensive line and Eichhorn’s arm put another score on the board early in the third quarter.
This time Eichhorn found Parker Kearns on a 7-yard TD reception with 9:30 left in the period.
Sheaffer, who finished with another 100-yard effort on the ground, put the game out of reach as he broke loose on a 25-yard touchdown scamper.
