Mifflin/Juniata County round up
MIFFLINTOWN – Posting a very young team coming into the 2022 season, the Juniata boys soccer team fell 6-0 to Shikellamy.
The Braves led in the shots on goal department by a slim 9-8 contest.
In Corner Kicks, Shikellamy took a 4- 3 advantage.
“With a young team there will be a lot of growing pains. However, our seniors are doing a great job keeping the team together and growing each time we are together,” said Juniata coach Jared Byler. “There is certainly a lot that we need to improve upon. Ty Shellenberger and Brant Walters did a great job on the backline.”
Tennis
It was a tough night on the court for the MIfflin County girls tennis team Monday as they fell on the road to Cedar Cliff 5-0.
Field hockey
The East Juniata field hockey team was in action Monday against Danville.
In the end, Danville took the contest 7-1.
Volleyball
Monday, In their season opener, the East Juniata volleyball team battled but fell in three sets to Southern Williamsport (25-5, 25-12 and 25-20).
The Tigers Marissa Lauver had four aces and Brenna Watts had four digs .
Fannett Metal 3, Juniata 1
Despite falling 3-1 to Fannett Metal, the Juniata volleyball team had some strong efforts by Isabella Armstrong (12 assists, 8 digs and an ace), Autumn Graybill (4 kills, 4 aces, 25 digs), Reese Foltz (24 digs, assist), Lexi Frontz (4 kills, 22 digs, ace).
