The law is something to be taken very seriously, which is what makes this so funny. A Texas lawyer was attending a virtual hearing via Zoom recently when he had to clarify that he is “not a cat.” A video of the 394th Judicial District Court hearing, posted to YouTube, shows lawyer Rod Ponton struggling to turn off a filter that turned his face into that of a cat during the Zoom call. Ponton says in the video, “I’m here live. I’m not a cat.” Judge Roy Ferguson, who presides over the district, tweeted a clip from the video, writing, “IMPORTANT ZOOM TIP: If a child used your computer, before you join a virtual hearing check the Zoom Video Options to be sure filters are off. This kitten just made a formal announcement on a case in the 394th.”
