Your idea of what a “gamer” is might need updating. Utilita is a Pay-As-You-Go energy company, and surveyed 2,000 adults to find those who enjoy computer games are now most-likely to be family men, property owners, and those making over $55,000 a year. Forty-one percent of women identified as a “gamer”, but they were much more likely to play on mobile phones, rather than consoles. Men also preferred to play first-person shooter games or virtual sports, while women reported liking strategy and puzzle games the most. Also, men reported spending an average of an hour and 40 minutes per day gaming, while women spent an average of an hour-and-a-half. Also, the console of choice for men was PlayStation.
