LinkedIn Learning has removed a diversity training program from its course library that drew backlash after it was used by Coca-Cola over content that included encouraging employees to, quote, “try to be less white.” It didn’t say how many companies had been using it. Coca-Cola came under fire starting at the end of last week when screenshots of the online LinkedIn course being used at Coca-Cola surfaced on Twitter. The course, called “Confronting Racism,” told employees to be, quote, “less white, less arrogant, less certain, less defensive, less ignorant and more humble.” It also said that, quote, “in the U.S. and other Western nations, white people are socialized to feel that they are inherently superior because they are white.” Coca-Cola told Newsweek that the tweeted video and images aren’t part of their required diversity training, saying it, quote, “was accessible on a third-party platform and was not part of the company’s curriculum, so it was not required.”
