Students are apparently failing at alarming rates this year. With students still learning from home in many places, districts around the country are reporting huge increases in “F”s being handed out, which disadvantaged students falling furthest behind. Teachers report that many students are skipping assignments or are struggling with limited internet access, and remote access has made it harder for them to detect which students need extra help. Some educators are even arguing that schools should stick to the pass-fail system introduced during spring lockdown instead of returning to the “A” through “F” grading system so soon.
